Police arrested a man on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill during an action day aiming to crackdown on crime at a station.

The suspect was detained by officers from the Met’s roads and transport command yesterday (Thursday, July 20) as part of an operation at Walthamstow Central station.

The man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, making threats to kill and racially aggravated public order offences.

The operation, run as part of the Met’s safer transport campaign resulted in three arrests at the station in total.

Two knives were also confiscated by officers and four further people were handed warnings for possession of cannabis.
