Young nature lovers are being urged to come to a popular beauty spot to see what lurks beneath the water.

It wouldn't be British summertime for kids in Waltham Forest without a spot pond dipping at Highams Park.

This Saturday, three classes between 10am and 12.30pm are taking kids out to see everything from frogs and tadpoles to an abundance of insects.

It is aimed at under 12-year-olds, but all ages are welcome. Adult supervision is a must during the event put on by the City of London Corporation.

The meeting point is the lakeside next to the Scout Hut, off Charter Road, Highams Park.
