A fly-tipper has been fined almost £3,000 after he dumped waste on a residential street.

Christian Paul, of Stanley Road, Ilford, was convicted of fly-tipping household waste in Melford Road, Ilford, on five occasions between December 2016 and March 2016.

The 40-year-old had denied the charges and chose to take the matter to trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, appeared last Thursday (July 20).

Paun then decided to change his plea, admitting to all of the five offences after he had been cross examined by the prosecution.

Cllr Sheila Bain, Redbridge Council cabinet member for civic pride said: “This case sends a very clear message that Redbridge will not tolerate fly-tippers.

“I am very pleased that the Crown Court saw it fit to impose a heavy fine on someone who chose to dump their rubbish in our Borough.

“People who are irresponsible enough to consider fly tipping must realise that they run the risk of a large fine and a criminal record.

“If we have the evidence we will not hesitate to prosecute and fine them.”

Paun was fined £1,419 and also ordered to pay prosecution of costs of £1,485, adding up to a total of £2,904.
