A FIRE station is opening its doors for the day so you can see fulfil your childhood dreams.

That’s assuming you’ve always wanted to sit in a fire engine – we thought so.

Firefighters at Leytonstone fire station, in High Road, will be welcoming visitors from 11am to 4pm on Sunday (July 30).

Visitors will be able to sit in the fire engines and see the different vehicles and equipment used to fight fires.

On top of that, there will be a bouncy castle, mini funfair and refreshments including an ice cream truck and barbecue.

Other organisations including the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance, will also be there on the day.

Firefighters will be giving fire safety advice including the importance of knowing what to do in the event of a blaze in your home.

Money raised on the day will go towards The Firefighters’ Charity.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Fire station open days are a fun, family day out.

“You can meet your local crews and find out more about the day to day work they carry out in your local community and have fun looking at all the equipment and sitting in the fire engines.

“There’s also a chance to learn more about the fire safety work we do, which is important for everyone to be aware of.

“So come and join our Leytonstone firefighters for their event this weekend.”
