The Mayor of Waltham Forest will attend her first event for Diabetes UK after the council selected it as charity of the year.
Cllr Yemi Osho will open the public event at Peterhouse Community Centre in Forest Rise, Walthamstow at noon on Wednesday August 16.
The aim is to raise awareness among residents of the borough and help them understand how the condition impacts on people’s lives.
Diabetes is the UK’s most fast growing health condition, affecting more people in the UK than dementia and cancer combined.
The event is free to attend. For more information email londonteam@diabetes.org.uk.
