Loose cables were left protruding from temporary traffic lights after council contractors carried out roadworks.
The rolls of cables were left jutting out onto footpaths near pedestrian crossings in Selborne Road, Walthamstow.
J B Riney was hired by Waltham Forest Council to carry out the works near Walthamstow station.
One concerned resident who did not wish to be named said: “After the tarmac around it was repaired, a traffic cone and a massive roll of loose cable has been left next to it for months.
“It's a bit of an eyesore not to mention a trip hazard.
“On the traffic light opposite, the cable has been securely fixed so I don't see why it can't be done on this one also.”
Waltham Forest Council and J B Riney have been approached for comment.
