TWO young men were stabbed after a car crash row turned nasty.

Police were called to Glebelands Avenue, South Woodford at 3.15pm yesterday (Sunday, August 13) to reports of two men inside a car being stabbed.

When they got there they found a Mercedes A class and a Mercedes GLA had crashed near the junction with Bressey Grove.

They found a 22-year-old and a 19-year old, who had both been inside the A Class, suffering from knife wounds.

Officers believe the cars crashed into each other, triggering a fight that ended in the stabbing.

They claim the GLA then ran over the teenager, who witnesses claim was seen "lying in the road".

The victims were rushed to hospital where their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The people in the GLA fled the scene before police could catch them. There have not yet been any arrests made.

Alan Rainbird, of Glebelands Avenue, was at home with his wife when the drama unfolded.

The 76-year-old said he heard shouting and sirens before looking outside to see a grey Mercedes parked in the middle of the road.

He claims the car was damaged and there was a man sat inside "for some time".

He said: "When he finally got out he had a big bandage on his thigh.

"There was another man lying on the floor.

"I thought someone had been run over, but I didn't realise they had been stabbed."

Mr Rainbird added he had "never seen anything like it" since he moved to the area in 1978.

He said: "This is a very quiet road, nothing ever goes on here.

"Everyone here is fairly respectable, it's pretty shocking really."

People commenting on social media claim “men with white suits”, police dogs, and a police helicopter were also on scene.

Glebelands Avenue was cordoned off until around 7pm.
