Travellers have set up camp outside a supermarket in a busy retail park.
A convoy of over a dozen caravans as well as cars and vans arrived in Leyton Mills off Marshall Road, Leyton on Tuesday evening (August 22).
The travellers remained on the site opposite Asda supermarket this afternoon, with reports circulating on social media that children from the group had run in front of passing cars.
A generator has been set up outside one of the caravans parked near the entrance to B&Q.
One of the store’s managers said after the group rolled in last night he contacted Waltham Forest Council who told him the travellers had been served an eviction notice and must leave before 8pm today.
Waltham Forest Council and Asda have been contacted for comment.
