Redbridge council has apologised for a mistake on a form sent to households across the borough.

Forms have been sent out in every local authority nationwide to update the new electoral register, which comes out on Friday, December 1.

The council confirmed an error appeared on page two of its household enquiry form.

Residents are asked if they are "included on open register". Forms with the letter "Y" under the question are not on the open register. If blank, then the resident is on the open register.

A council spokesman said: “We apologise for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.”

The open register is an extract of the electoral register which can be bought by any person, company or organisation.

Voters have been asked to check the form and make amendments where necessary. Alterations must be done via secure website or post.
