A woman is fighting for her life after being knocked down by a car during rush hour this morning.
The 19-year-old was walking in Lea Bridge Road near the junction with Elm Park Road, Leyton when she was hit at around 6.15am on Thursday August 31.
She was rushed to hospital with serious head and leg injuries which have been described as “life-threatening”.
The driver of the car was treated by paramedics at the scene before being interviewed under caution at a police station in connection with the incident.
There have been no arrests.
Officers from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation.
