MORE THAN 2,000 revellers defied wet weather to turn out in force for the fourth annual Street Party.
Wansteadians descended upon The Duke, Wanstead, for the pub’s “biggest ever event” on Saturday, September 9, marking the official opening of the Wanstead Fringe Festival.
Children enjoyed a rave, pottery painting and an ice cream parlour, while adults enjoyed food, drink and a two hour set from House Jammerz, a live dance band.
Organisers said around 2,500 attended the event over the course of the day.
Ronnie Finch, owner of The Duke said: “Despite flash floods during the middle of the day, a lot of people stayed to the end and enjoyed the music. You could see the neighbourhood support for the event.”
“This year we put more effort into it and people could see that. We do it as a neighbourhood event, not for financial gain.”
