RESTAURANTS should be forced to show their food hygiene scores to improve standards.
Redbridge Council is calling for national legislation from the government to make displaying hygiene ratings a legal requirement.
The Local Government Association’s (LGA) campaign to retain EU laws regulating food safety after Brexit has also been backed by the council.
Councillor Sheila Bain, cabinet member for civic pride said: “We firmly believe that food outlets should have a mandatory obligation to display the rating they have been given as they are in Scotland and Wales.”
