CANCER patients combined to create a “must-watch” video enlightening residents about the treatment process.
Mairead Gray and Sara Turle worked with health professionals at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Trust to create “Getting to Know Us: A Guide to Cancer Services Outpatients” which premiered on Wednesday, September 13.
Ms Turle, who “has long had an aspiration to make a film” about cancer treatment, was introduced by Trust officials to Mairead, who raised money to make the film.
Mairead said the pair aimed to make people more at ease before coming into hospital for care.
She added: “Small things, like knowing about the oncology car park, facilities, hints and tips for when they arrive – all these things can help take a little stress out of the visit.”
The duo penned the script to give a give “a true reflection” of what cancer patients will go through during treatment.
Sara had struggled to find the money for the project until Mairead provided the necessary funds.
