WORRIED parents have been reassured that funding for schools in Chingford and Woodford Green will go up.

Nick Gibb, Minister for State Schools and Funding, wrote to Iain Duncan Smith MP last week confirming that schools in his constituency would benefit from more investment per pupil.

The Chingford and Woodford Green MP sought to reassure families that funding would not be cut for schools over the next two years.

Mr Duncan Smith said: “I am pleased to welcome this much needed increase in investment in our schools.”

The letter restates the Secretary of State’s announcement in July that an additional £1.3 billion would be spent on schools across the country over the next two years.

The decision marked the Government’s final plan on the National Funding Formula, which will come into effect next April.

A minimum per pupil funding for both secondary and primary schools will be introduced as a result of this extra funding being allocated. There will be up to 3 per cent gains per pupil in 2018-19.

Core funding will reach nearly £41 billion for 2017-18 and rise to £43.5 billion by 2019-20.
