Waltham Abbey were forced to settle for a point in their Bostik League Division One North clash with Maldon & Tiptree as they drew 1-1.

The visitors had the better of the first half and were ahead seven minutes before the interval when Billy Holland found the net.

It was an advantage they enjoyed until the final 20 minutes of the encounter when Maldon were awarded a spot-kick.

Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe made no mistake from 12 yards to ensure the home side took something from the game.

Abbey host Dereham Town in their next game on Saturday.

Waltham Forest fought off a comeback effort from Hackney Wick as they recorded a 2-1 Essex Senior League win.

The home side took the lead through Mohammed Sagaf’s 23rd-minute penalty and had breathing space when Bradley Harris added a second after half-time.

They were made to work for the three points and Jeffrey Idemudia pulled one back for Wick in the 66th minute.

Forest held on for the win though, and will take the confidence gained into a meeting with Southend Manor on Saturday.

A torrid Saturday saw Wadham Lodge go down to a chastening 8-0 defeat against Stansted to remain rooted to the foot of the table.

There was little indication of the thrashing which was to follow after a goalless first half, but Stansted dominated the second period.

Nick Brown and Dave Limber both helped themselves to braces and there were also goals for James Isherwood, Nick Carpenter, Ryan Ramsey and Chris Gormley.

Redbridge took the local bragging rights from their clash with Ilford as they dominated en route to a 5-1 victory on Tuesday.

The home side have been in potent form going forward this season and once again flexed their attacking muscles.

It took just 15 minutes for Redbridge to score as Brian Moses netted and a Calvin Poku effort made it 2-0 at half-time.

The pair added another goal each to put the result beyond doubt before James Peagram got a goal for Ilford in the 82nd minute.

Courtney Homans scored in the first minute of added time to restore the four-goal advantage.

The result came on the back of Ilford going out of the FA Vase on Saturday after a 3-0 loss to Hullbridge Sports.

West Essex also crashed out of the cup competition after losing 2-1 to Great Wakering Rovers. Michael Mignot got their goal.
