SHOPPERS will have to wait to peruse Marks & Spencer’s delights after the company announced a delay to the opening of a new branch.

The new Simply Food store, which has created 42 new jobs, was due to open in Wanstead High Street on Tuesday, October 10 but has been delayed due to construction problems.

An M&S spokeswoman said: “Due to construction delays to our new store, M&S Wanstead Simply Food will be opening later than planned.

“We’d like to thank the community for their patience, we will update on our opening as soon as we can.

“We’re working hard on the store and remain committed to bringing the very best of M&S to Wanstead.”

A revised open date could not be provided.

The branch will be located next to The George pub.
