Storm Ophelia had the unexpected consequence of turning the sun red yesterday afternoon.
Thousands across east London were able to witness the remarkable phenomenon, which was only visible in certain parts of the UK.
Experts say the effect was caused by the storm pulling air and dust up from southern Europe and Africa, causing the sun to appear red in colour.
Storm Ophelia hit the British Isles this morning and caused serious damage to property in Ireland, as well as claiming the lives of at least three people.
It was one of the largest storms to hit the UK in years, with some western areas of the country seeing winds of up to 80mph.
