HARRY Potter fans had a magical time recreating the boy wizard’s world to mark the literary classic’s 20th anniversary.

Year seven pupils at Bancroft’s School, Woodford Green, swapped their regular uniforms for Hogwarts robes in JK Rowling’s much loved books.

Children participated in Quidditch, which saw them take to broomsticks in the sports hall and fuse netball, rugby and “utter chaos”.

They also enjoyed quizzes, debates and potion making.

Jayson Ceeraz, a physics teacher at Bancroft’s said: “I’ve never seen anything quite like this in a school before.”

Witches and wizards also enjoyed a visit from Eden Falconry on Thursday, October 19, learning more about different types of owls, which feature heavily in the world of Harry Potter.

Kate Squire, the chief librarian who organised the week of magical activities said: “I wanted to do something special for our new year 7s to welcome them and make them feel at home in their new senior school.

“The 20th anniversary of one of their favourite literary characters, was a great opportunity for this.”
