A human resources team who saved their NHS trust £10 million by reducing the need for agency staff has won a national award.

The North East London NHS Foundation Trust won the Workforce 2.0 Award for Leadership at the Allocate Awards earlier this month at a ceremony in Manchester.

The Walthamstow-based team scooped the prize for cutting the use of agency shifts from 10.65 per cent to 6.35 per cent of the overall workforce.

Kathy Stapleton, senior HR manager at the trust based in Walthamstow, said: “I am thrilled that HR systems has received this leadership award.

“This win at the Allocate Awards is in recognition of the trust’s continued commitment to reduce agency spend and cross departmental working with operational leads.”
