A train narrowly missed hitting wood laid out across tracks on the Epping Ongar Railway.
Two incidents took place on October 14, the first near Coopersale Common bridge at around 3pm and the second near Station Road, North Weald Bassett, at around 3.25pm.
During the second incident the driver of the train managed to stop just short of the sleepers and removed them from the track.
A group of teenagers had been seen near the railway line earlier in the day and were spotted again on a bridge over the tracks at around 1.50pm.
Police want to speak to the group about the incidents.
