TEACHERS and parents are urging the public vote for their project to buy enough books to fill a double decker bus.

Staff and parents on The PTA at Aldersbrook Primary School are bidding for a £10,000 grant from the Aviva Community Fund 2017 to fill a bus in the playground with books.

The school acquired a double decker bus this summer after struggling to find space for a library.

Brian Hughes, acting head teacher, said: “In an age where there is such a strong focus on testing, we want to instil a love of reading in our pupils and the library bus project will really help with this.

“The children and staff are so excited about our new library and the whole school community have been a great support to get it up and running. Now we just need the books!”

Projects need votes to get to the final, after which judges will award grants to selected schemes from across the country..
