CHILDREN have been equipped with useful tools to protect themselves in different situations in an informative week.

Pupils of all ages at Snaresbrook Primary School, South Woodford, picked up valuable lessons in British values, first aid and bullying in Respecting Rights Week.

Lessons were given about the right to be protected from harm, to good health, to an identity, religion and to speak out when unhappy.

Graham Ford, head teacher at the school said: “The children have been learning lots of important things this week namely how to keep safe online and “my body my rules”.

"We’ve worked with the children on anti-bullying and knowing the difference between falling out with friends and actual bullying.

“We are excited in the knowledge that the children have taken control and really understood how important it is to keep themselves safe and protected when they are out and when online.

“I feel confident that Snaresbrook Primary School pupils are empowered to be active safe global citizens.”

The NSPCC delivered a Speak Out, Stay Safe workshop to years five and six, while year fours produced a play to the whole school about online safety.

Respecting Rights Week is designed to reinforce themes of personal safety, self-respect and smart decision making.
