SYNAGOGUE members gave up their own time to help two different charities with a little help from some delicious treats.

The East London and Essex Liberal Synagogue raised more than £50 from home-baked chocolate cakes after religious classes on Saturday, November 18.

Proceeds will go towards Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green.

Later that day, charitable worshippers brought toiletries and dry food goods to Jason Lee House in Ilford, an organisation helping to eradicate homelessness.

Merle Muswell, synagogue volunteer said: "We have collected item for Jason Lee House over many years. It's always so good to see how appreciative the guests are to receive the items of food and particularly the toiletries.”
