NUISANCE traders have had the door slammed in their faces following the introduction of a new No Cold Calling Zone (NCCZ).

New signs have been set up in the NCCZ in the Barkingside ward warning cold-calling or bogus traders that they are not welcome.

The new no-go zone was identified as attracting numerous rogue traders who approached victims pretending to offer home improvements and maintenance.

Councillor Sheila Bain, cabinet member for civic pride said: “We’ve been doing a lot of work to increase awareness among residents about the various scams rogue traders carry out, and we always encourage residents to be on the lookout for fraudsters and to report them to the appropriate authorities.

“The news NCCZ is an excellent initiative that demonstrates how Redbridge Council are working together with our residents to tackle something which is a problem for our community.”

The Met, Redbridge Trading Standards and other organisations have teamed up for the scheme.
