SHOPPERS are still in the dark over when exactly a new branch of Marks & Spencer is opening.

A tweet from the supermarket’s account on Wednesday, December 6, suggested that the Simply Food Store coming to High Street, Wanstead, will open in late January.

However, a spokeswoman for M&S said this was not the case.

She said: “Our new Wanstead store will be opening in early 2018. We’d like to thank the community for their patience, we will provide a date for our opening as soon as we can.

“We’re working hard on the store and remain committed to bringing the very best of M&S to Wanstead.

“The tweet was a miscommunication.”

The branch was meant to open on Tuesday, October 10, but was delayed due to construction issues.

A total of 42 jobs have been created by the store.

M&S will be based at 157 High Street, next to The George pub.
