Buckhurst Hill continued the countdown to Christmas with a charity street fair.

Hundreds attended the annual Christmas in Queens Road Event last Friday, jointly organised by Buckhurst Hill Parish Council and Buckhurst Hill Residents’ Society.

Children were greeted by Father Christmas and participated in games such as hook-a- duck, hoop la and treasure hunts.

Proceeds from the event were donated to Carers UK, the parish council’s chosen charity for 2017.

A Carers UK spokesman said: "It was a fantastic afternoon enjoyed by everyone.

“Lots of interest was shown from young and old about the work of Carers UK. It was a very positive day."

Other entertainment on offer was provided by carol singers, Jebb the Stilt Walker, and conjurer Magic Stephanie.

Buckhurst Hill Residents' Society chairman, Jenn Page, added: "We are so grateful to all the

volunteers from the residents’ society as well as the parish council.

“Without their support and effort this event just would not have happened.

"We also appreciate the support that we received from local businesses who also really entered into the spirit. What a wonderful way to start the Christmas festivities.
