Children facing Christmas in hospital were treated to a visit from Leyton Orient players bearing gifts.

Footballers David Mooney, Charlie Lee, Matt Harrold and Jamie Sendles-White met with the young patients and their families at Whipps Cross Hospital's Acorn Ward on Thursday, December 14.

Ward manager Jen O'Sullivan praised the sportsmen for taking the time to visit the hospital and cheer the children up.

"It was great to have Leyton Orient in to visit our younger patients," she said.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

"It's understandably a difficult time for them but to get a chance to chat and have a laugh with players from their local team is a real boost for them."

The visit was part of an annual tradition the club has of sending players to meet with patients and staff at Whipps in the run up to Christmas.

Striker David Mooney said: "It's always a pleasure to come and visit Acorn Ward and put a smile on the children's faces.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

"Hospital is not a nice place to be and especially at this time of year but we're always happy to pop in to hand out some gifts and hopefully cheer up the kids and meet the wonderful staff."
