A Beatles tribute band has announced it will play in Walthamstow as part of its UK tour in 2018.

The Mersey Beatles will visit Mirth, Marvel and Maud Theatre in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, the former Granada Cinema where The Beatles played in 1963 and ’64.

The band’s Get Back 2018 Tour will take them to towns, cities and historic British venues that the original Beatles first rocked in the Sixties.

Formed in 1999 in Liverpool by four school friends, the band is made up of Mark Bloor (John), Steven Howard (Paul), Craig McGown (George) and Brian Ambrose (Ringo) and has toured the world many times over.

Mr Howard said: “We are, of course, all Beatles fans and as Liverpool lads we’ve been obsessed with the band since we were in school.

“It’s going to be great to follow in the Fab Four’s footsteps and truly recreate those special shows at these wonderful and historic venues.”

Mark added: “We cannot wait to Get Back to where it all began for the greatest band of all time.”

The concert will take place on Thursday, November 22 and tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.

Julia Baird, John Lennon’s sister, said: “The Mersey Beatles are the most authentic I’ve heard... and I’ve heard them all.”
