A public meeting will be held to discuss the way forward for campaigners fighting to save a town centre from redevelopment.

Members of Save Walthamstow’s Town Centre will meet at William Morris Community Centre in Greenleaf Road on Thursday, January 11 at 7.30pm.

Last month campaigners vowed to continue their fight after plans to build four tower blocks in Walthamstow Town Square were approved by Waltham Forest Council’s planning committee.

Last year the group’s petition opposing the high-rise blocks gained more than 2,000 signatures.

The demolition of trees and the lack of affordable housing in the scheme – just 20 per cent of the 500 apartments – will be discussed at the meeting.
