Church leaders and parishioners from all corners of Waltham Forest have joined forces for the launch of a new ‘Mission and Ministry’ partnership.

St Mary’s Church in Church End, Walthamstow, The Cornerstone in Canterbury Road, Leyton, and Chingford Parish have agreed to build on their work through Citizens UK by working side by side on a number of projects.

Father Lee Taylor, Assistant Curate at Saints Peter and Paul’s Church in The Green Walk, Chingford, said: “The Mission and Ministry Unit is a diocesan initiative to bring parishes together and actually brining us together makes us stronger.

“We can kind of pull in our resources and do more with what we have and reach more people.

“Our partnership is based on being involved in Citizens UK and working for justice and social cohesion through working with other churches and faiths.

“Citizens UK is open to all institutions so we see that as part of us living out the Gospel’s message in our community to let people know about the love of Jesus.

“It will be through social media, working in the community with Citizens UK and holding events.”

A commissioning service led by Rt Rev’d Peter Hill, Anglican Bishop of Barking will take place on Sunday, January 21, at 6.30pm at Saints Peter and Paul’s Church in Chingford. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
