Firefighters were called to a home in Epping after its roof caught on fire.
Essex Fire and Rescue crews from Epping and Harlow stations were called to Charles Street at around 10.50am on Wednesday.
On arrival, they found the ground floor extension flat roof of the property was on fire and its kitchen was smoke logged.
Crews were able to extinguish the blaze by 12.05pm.
The kitchen has suffered some smoke damage and the roof has suffered some fire damage.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.
