Police are investigating after one man had a lucky escape from a fire at a flat.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) crews were called to a blaze in Ferndale Road, Leytonstone at around midday on Sunday (January 21).
At the scene, firefighters found a five-roomed, ground floor flat which had caught alight.
A man who had been inside the property had been able to escape before crews arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters from Leytonstone, Leyton, Plaistow and Woodford stations were called to the blaze, which was under control by 1pm.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation by Met Police officers.
