Young people across Waltham Forest came together to discuss the issues that matter to them at the borough’s first ever youth summit.
Hosted by Mayor Cllr Yemi Osho at Waltham Forest College last Thursday (February 1), students discussed challenges facing the area that were affecting their lives and explored solutions.
The event was attended by young people from Kelmscott School, Sir George Monoux College, Leyton Sixth form, Waltham Forest College and others.
Cllr Osho said: “It’s great to see so many young people participating in discussions regarding issues and challenges they face.
“It is imperative that we work with our young people to have a voice and empower them to attain their potential. Not only for their own sake but for the community and society as a whole".
A follow-up event will take place next month aimed at trying to deliver solutions to the problems highlighted by youngsters.
