Hundreds of students pledged to donate their time to help charities at a volunteering fair hosted by Waltham Forest College.
In total, 20 charities and not-for-profit organisations attended the event in Walthamstow on February 8 including Parkinson’s UK, British Red Cross and The Women’s Decision Group CIC.
The event was organised by the college in partnership with Community Waltham Forest, an umbrella organisation supporting volunteers and charities in the borough.
Student Katherine Jaguaco said: “There was lots of information to get round with many opportunities available. I personally like working with babies so I decided to sign-up to volunteer in Songs & Smiles.”
Diana Leary, Volunteering Development Officer for Community Waltham Forest, added: “There was a fabulous buzz in the room. It was great to see the interactions taking place between the various charities and students attending.”
