A man has been charged with two counts of rape following an incident at a park.
Motuir Rahman, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with two counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of theft.
The homeless 25-year-old was remanded in custody and will next appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on March 14.
He was arrested in Nutter Lane, Wanstead, in connection to an incident that took place in the vicinity of Roding Valley Park on the morning of February 7.
Detective Sergeant Vince Fedder, of the Met’s East Area Safeguarding Team, said: "I would like to thank the public for their support in relation to this matter and praise the victim for her courage in coming forward.
“We treat all reports of sexual offences seriously and will do all we can to bring offenders to justice."
