A GENEROUS cash injection from a supermarket will ensure the grass at Epping Bowls Club remains flat.

The club was chosen as one of three local beneficiaries of Tesco's Bags of Help which ran throughout November and December.

Customers are urged to put blue tokens in boxes supporting local projects, every time they shop.

Now the Club has received £1,000 which will go towards replacing one of its mowers.

Anne Munroe, club secretary, said: “This is a great injection for club funds and we are delighted. Thank you to all who put their tokens in our box. Bowls is a great game for all the family.”

Epping Bowls Club, established in 1891, is based in Lower Bury Lane in Epping, opposite Epping St John’s School and is keen to recruit new members for the upcoming season starting in April.

Free to attend days are being held on April 29 and May 27.
