St Clare Hospice has unveiled its team of runners who will take on the world-famous London Marathon course next month in aid of the charity.

A total of nine runners aged between 26 and 61 will represent the Hastingwood hospice when they take on the 26.2 mile route through the capital on April 22.

Six of the runners were chosen from a host of applicants to get “Gold Bond” slots in the race awarded to the hospice, while three others have chosen to run in aid of the charity after securing their own race entries by ballot.

Two of the runners are from Epping Forest - David Henderson of Buckhurst Hill and Rosie East, from Waltham Abbey.

St Clare Hospice’s Challenges and Events Fundraiser, Emma Broadbent, said: “As always, we are so excited for Team St Clare to compete in the London Marathon.

“It’s a one-of-a-kind event, famous all over the world for its incredible atmosphere and prestige.

“Competing in the event is such a special way to support St Clare, as well as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

The hospice is still appealing for anyone who has secured a marathon slot to get in touch if they want to fundraise for the charity.
