A young man has been killed in a stabbing at a shopping centre.

Police were called to the Stratford Centre, in Stratford Broadway, at 9.30pm on Tuesday evening after reports of a disturbance.

Officers and London Ambulance Service parademics found a man at the scene, thought to be in his 20s, suffering from stab injuries.

Scotland Yard said detectives believe the victim and a friend were involved in an altercation with a group of young males before he was stabbed.

Despite efforts from emergency services to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10.30pm.

The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command has opened a murder investigation following the incident.

No arrests have been made. Enquires are ongoing.
