A teenager battling terminal cancer had a day he will never forget as he met players and staff at his beloved Liverpool FC.

Fardeen Khan, from Chingford, visited The Reds’ Melwood training ground last week after the trip was organised for him by the Barrie Wells Trust.

The 17-year-old is currently undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of cancer and had a leg amputated due to the disease at a young age.

The cancer has now spread to his lungs and doctors say there is little they can do to help.

However, the trip gave Liverpool-mad Fardeen a break from his treatment and he was able to meet Reds manager Jürgen Klopp and top-scorer Mohamed Salah.

The trust’s founder, Barrie Wells, said: “Fardeen is an amazing brave boy supported by a wonderful family.”

The charity’s initiative, Box4Kids, offers seriously ill and disabled children the chance to watch sport as VIPs, using corporate boxes that have donated for the day.

More than 6,000 children have been able to watch sporting events as part of the scheme so far, including at Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.
