A COUPLE are looking forward to completing their first London Marathon together on behalf of a charity.

Rowan Hartley and Nikki Hudson, who are both from South Woodford, are taking part in the race to thank Sense, the disability charity that supported Ms Hudson following treatment.

Ms Hudson, 31, received corrective surgery to treat partial hearing loss in her left ear.

The couple have raised £1,140 so far and are hoping to meet their target of £1,500.

Mr Hartley, 32, was inspired to run after his partner underwent surgery.
He says: “Nikki has always had trouble with her hearing and up until two years ago had partial hearing loss. Luckily, she had it corrected through surgery.

“I am really looking forward to running for Sense.”

Ms Hudson says: “When I first found out that I was selected to run the London Marathon I was in utter shock.

“I thought I wouldn’t be able to run that far but the support that the team at Sense have provided us with is incredible.

“I am really excited to be running for a charity that is supporting people with complex needs.”

Mr Hartley aims to complete the race in five hours while Ms Hudson hopes to finish in four hours and 15 minutes.

Sense is a national charity that supports people with complex communication needs.

The London Marathon takes place on Sunday, April 22.
