BEAVERS and Cubs pushed a shopping trolley full of milk bottles in a protest against water consumption.

In freezing cold, snowy weather on March 17, 12 members of the 16th Epping Forest troupe wheeled dozens of empty plastic milk bottles from Thomas Willingale School to the water fountain in Loughton High Road.

The bottles represented the 160 litres of water an average person in the UK consumes every day.

The Beavers and Cubs also carried various sized bottles of dirty water which symbolised the 20 litres of water people in large parts of the developing world have accessed to a day.

The walk was part of the Million Hands Project the Scout Association has been running in partnership with Water Aid.

All the Beavers and Cubs will receive a special badge as recognition of completing the walk.

The group has raised just over £300 so far for Water Aid.
