THE ORCHARD Estate has been given a mid-summer spruce-up.
Children joined police officers from Roding's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) to clean up the Woodford Green estate and between PSCO Tina Buist, PC Greg Marsh, six volunteer youngsters and Brian Voyce, Vice Chairman of the estate, seven big bin bags full of rubbish were picked up.
The litter pick was over in an hour and a half and it was such a success Sergeant Matt Babbington from the Roding SNT is planning another one for the autumn.
Sgt Babbington said: "The idea was to give children something to do in the holidays to encourage them not to drop litter and to improve the environment of the Orchard Estate. We are planning another one in a couple of months."
For more information on the next Orchard Estate litter pick and to volunteer your services call Roding SNT on 8721 2565.
