Work on 26 new studios and a café in Uplands Business Park, Blackhorse Lane is nearing completion. The first businesses are due to move into the complex from April 2018.

This week, Waltham Forest Council Leader Councillor Clare Coghill, visited the new Switchboard Studios site at 50 Uplands Business Park, to see how the £1.5 million scheme is progressing.

Cllr Coghill said: “This is a fantastic refurbishment which will help meet the demand from local creative businesses looking for studio space, something we expect to increase even further here in London’s first Borough of Culture.

“In just three months, a 1950s office block, which was used as a call centre, has been transformed into 26 studios and a café.”

The build is part of the council’s five-year project investing in creative businesses. It’ll hope the project will generate new jobs and apprenticeships in the creative industries.

The project received £580,000 from the GLA’s London Regeneration Fund and additional funding from Waltham Forest Council.

The total cost of the project is £1.46 million.

The 26 studios on the site range in size from 14 to 35 square metres.
