A charity shops raised thousands of pounds for a hospice after it held an evening selling off high fashion clothing.

Scarlet, the designer boutique for St Clare Hospice in Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill sold more than 60 tickets for its Spring Summer launch party event last Thursday.

The store offered shoppers the chance to get their hands on cut price Gucci, Burberry, Ralph Lauren ad Mulberry items.

Staff and volunteers raised a total of £4,000 through the event, enough to finance more than a week’s worth of care for a patient from the Hastingwood hospice’s support team.

Shop Manager at Scarlet, Janice Cutts, commented: “Huge thanks also go to all our St Clare supporters who donate their designer clothing and accessories to Scarlet; it is with their amazing generosity that this evening is such a special occasion for those who attend.

“Well done and thank you to our volunteers here at Scarlet, too, for giving their time and skills to St Clare.”

St Clare Hospice provides care for people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses from west Essex and east Hertfordshire, as well offering emotional and psychological support to their family members.
