Thieves break into pub and steal cash from fruit machines
A pub was broken into overnight.
Thieves damaged the back door of The George, in High Street, Wanstead.
They targetted the fruit machines and took cash.
A spokesman for JD Whetherspoon said: "We can confirm that there was a break-in at The George, Wanstead, overnight.
"The gaming machines were targeted, damaged and an amount of cash taken.
"The back door of the pub was also damaged and has now been repaired.
"Police attended the site and we are helping them in every way we can.
"The pub has now reopened (lunchtime April 11)."
The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment.
