A group of travellers who set up camp in a gasworks site are facing eviction.
The convoy are stationed at the National Grid site in Clementina Road, Leyton were visited by police this morning to enforce a writ issued by the High Court. It is not known when the travellers arrived.
National Grid has been contacted for comment.
Last October, Waltham Forest Council was granted stronger powers to prevent illegal camps springing up on public land. The High Court granted an injunction order with a penal notice which means people who refuse to leave could face arrest.
In 2017 the council spent thousands of pounds on legal fees and payments to court enforcement officers in an effort to remove illegal traveller camps.
