A SCHOOL specialising in education for autistic young people is celebrating a trio of successes.
In January Oak View Special School was judged ‘excellent’ in its autism practice for a third time by the National Autistic Society, with inspectors noting its high levels of personalised teaching.
A month later Claire Moore was recognised by the Essex Teacher Awards for her outstanding special needs work at the Whitehills Road, Loughton school.
And at the end of March mobile classrooms were move to allow work to begin on the school’s expansion project, which will see four extra classrooms built to support 24 additional pupils.
The new building will be completed by Easter 2019.
Headteacher Dianne Ryan said: “Claire Moore is an amazing teacher. She is also a specialist lead educationalist in Essex supporting children and young people who are within the autistic spectrum, both in specialist provision and mainstream provision.
“The school just goes from strength to strength. I am very proud of all the achievements of the pupils and staff. They are all an incredible team.”
