A community market will be trialled in Leytonstone on four Saturdays this spring.

Live entertainment will be provided by a steel pan band, an organ grinder and other musicians from the area.

There will be a disco to keep children occupied while adults can browse stalls selling clothing, street food, upcycled furniture and art. A pop-up bar will sell locally-brewed craft beers.

Run by Waltham Forest Council, the market will feature a stall offering people information about the borough’s services such as free childcare, support for families, cycling and leisure.

It will be held at Church Lane carpark beside Leytonstone and will run from 10am until 4pm on April 21 and 28 and May 5 and 12.

On May 5 there will be a cycle safety workshop at the market, where mechanics will offer free bike maintenance checks.

If successful, the weekly market may continue into the summer months.
