Police have arrested a 24-year-old man they found carrying a knife during a stop and search.
The man was arrested in Walthamstow at around 6pm on Monday by patrolling officers from the Met’s newly-formed Violent Crime Taskforce.
When searched, he was found to have a twin bladed weapon and was taken into custody at an east London police station.
Last month police were granted stop and search powers after the fatal shooting of Joseph Williams-Torres, 20, in Essex Close, Walthamstow.
Inspector Peter Moxham, form the Violent Crime Taskforce, said: "Quite often, we are patrolling in undercover vehicles and dressed in plain clothes - just because you cannot see us, does not mean we are not around."
