A GROUP that teaches children through physical play has raised more than £60,000 for a birth research charity.

During the last year parents, class leaders and children part of Tumble Tots groups across the UK have been fundraising hard for Tommy's, a charity that funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents.

With cash having poured in through sponsored marathons, swims in icy water and skydives, a cheque for £60,094.85 was handed to a Tommy representative at the Hainault Road branch in Chigwell.

Lucy Baylis, marketing manager, said: "Tumble Tots have worked with Tommy’s for many years as it is a cause that is close to the hearts of many of the parents who come through their doors.

"During October, the National Children’s Activity Week, sponsored by Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly, saw the Tumble Tots children take on a Fitness Festival challenge. They balanced, jumped, rolled, weaved, climbed and much more, getting sponsored by family and friends for the privilege.

"Finally, there was Christmas Clothes week in December, full of fun and fancy dress. The Tumble Tots members, parents and even staff had a great time dressing up as elves, snowmen and all things Christmassy, as well as raising much needed funds for the cause.

"The fundraising journey was not an easy one, but Tumble Tots are extremely grateful for all the hard work from their members, franchisees and friends and family who have helped to raise more than ever for one year of fundraising."
